I later used a switch box to switch between the two DigiOnes as input to the exact same DAC just to confirm my findings.

I built a little streamer using the DigiOne (not the Signature), and it gives my Auralic Aries G1 a run for the money. I find the same level of enjoyment that I do have with the Mini86 and ipurifier (on the same DAC, but connected with its XMOS based USB receiver). Allo did a very good board… sounds very very good… i have to test with ext power supply to see if can improve further.Qobuz also have 'beta' support for DLNA in their native desktop app, although last time I tried it with HiFiBerryOS it didn't play ball, not sure if it works better with Ropieee XL.

You observe tone decay more easily and you can follow it longer, which enforces a stronger and more believable virtual space in between and behind your speakers. What we have here is something that was not designed to sound good, but to sound as best as possible (on Raspberry PI), and this is not yet another case of over-engineering: they made clear design choices which my listening impressions confirm to be correct.
