You know the usual scenarios wherein the main characters go back and forth with all the blaming and the pushing and pulling when it comes to their relationship?

The author's narrative technique allows the reader to become fully aware of Jonathan Elliott Cunningham and Kennedy Reagan Garfield’s trials and tribulations. M. Darhower holds no punches while delivering a heartfelt chronicle of love and heartbreak, of two young people torn apart by the changing tides of life, only to find their way back to one another when the time is right.The physical intimacy between Jonathan and Kennedy is intense as they both focus on reconnecting and learning to love again. It shows the unconditional love you have for your kids, that no matter what they do and how much they screw up.

Felt it because this story had a lot of aspects in it that I could connect with a few parts of my life. Through constant flashbacks to their shared past, we become invested in their love story, but we also get to see firsthand how much Jonathan’s mistakes have cost them both, how much Kennedy has sacrificed in the course of their relationship, and what it took to eventually make her walk away from it all. He knew he was in no condition to take care of his family and that he’d be poison for them, so he didn’t even dare to try it until he was sure he’d stay clean.rolls eyes*) … plus I’m way too happy reading my LGBTQ+ books because they have all the sweet and fluffy feels I not only crave for but also need in my life! I mourn the years they lost, the time that was wasted, the love that maybe just wasn’t quite enough to overcome his demons sooner. God the feels that came rushing at me, the love I felt consumed me, normally I’m not really a fan of second chance romances because you kind of know the layout of the story, past they break up, then they make up end of story, but this was done in such an outstanding way like pieces of a puzzle we’d be given pieces of their past that we’d make sense of to complete their future.

He tried to make amends over the years, but he just couldn’t fight his inner demons and Kennedy knew it and therefore banished him from her life. I loved Kennedy for her strength and her determination and for the love she had for her little girl. It felt like it was just based on sex in both the past and the present, and that the deep connection parts were skimmed over or just vague. Secondly, and more important to my mind of thinking, is how the past flows alongside the present like no other novel I’ve ever read. M. Darhower, but one book is all it took to make me desperate to read every single word this author has ever written, because everything about this story was sheer perfection.
