About this deal

but what about differences between the MC-11 and MC-21? Perhaps the origin here is the difference between translating E-to-EF and L-to-EF? Perhaps E has better facilities for adapted DSLR lenses, as it was designed to accommodate Sony's adapters to A lenses? Perhaps that means that the MC-11 is more forgiving of unsupported Canon lenses than the MC-21? I ask this because I have no way of testing it myself. Firstly my Sony bodies are the now well superseded NEX6 and A7Ri and my adapters were Metabones and a rare once-only RJ EF-E/FE adapter. Hardly relevant. Before we get into the performance of the MC-11 (which proved impressive) let’s have a look at some of the features which make the MC-11 a welcomed addition to the lens converter scene. Construction Quality and Features

The adapter transmits EXIF data to the camera, which is a big plus. You can see the focal length, shutter speed, and working aperture for any shot, just as you can with a native lens. It would seem - “going-L with your EF lenses?” - “go Fotodiox Fusion”. Not only will most of your Canon EF lenses be compatible but all the Sigma EF mount lenses that the MC-21 handles will also work just as well on your Fusion. Thanks Alan, a very good explanation. Sigma obviously has all the L-Mount protocols, being part of the L-Mount grouping. It is probably in the box seat to get the best L-EF adapter but at the same time I can and have always espoused the obvious that Sigma only have a charter to make all Sigma EF mount lenses work with their lenses and any other brand EF lenses that work are just a bonus. But the bonus has not been good enough for this L-Mount early adopter of Panasonic camera bodies. And there was nowhere else to turn other than Novoflex whose adapter was originally made for EF-SL and Leica bodies and priced at a level that would make even Metabones blanche. Furthermore the Novoflex adapter has an even worse compatibility than the MC-21. KANAGAWA, JAPAN — February 23, 2016 – Sigma Corporation of America, a leading DSLR lens, camera, flash and accessories manufacturer, today announced the release of its new high-performance Sigma Global Vision lens converter – the Mount Converter MC 11 – for Sony E-mount, full frame and APS-C sensor cameras. With the new MC-11, Sony camera users will be able to utilize 19 Global Vision lenses in Sigma Canon Mount (EOS) and Sigma Mount (SA). Da das 50mm 1.8 in etwa dem 50mm 1.8 von Sony gleicht was ich besitze ist es ir auch nicht so wichtig wie z.B. das 24-70 oder das 70-200.While Sigma bills the MC-11 as a converter that enables Sigma Canon-mount lenses to be used on Sony cameras (including the superb A-series optics), naturally there’s a lot of interest from photographers with a collection of Canon lenses. With this in mind, I tested the MC-11 with the Sony A7R III and a collection of Canon lenses. Both the MC-21 and the Fotodiox Fusion work my Canon 50/1.2L very well. But the 14/2.8L; 24/1.4; 85/1.2L; 135/2.0L; even 100-400/4.5-5.6; and others work on the Fusion but are not an MC-21 bonus. I would like to know which lenses are not a bonus on the MC-11 before I go and buy myself an A7Riv and a MC-11 and naively expect the bonus to cover them.

MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 is ideal for professional photographers who use different camera systems depending on the subject, as well as amateur photographers who enjoy using a variety of camera systems. Increasing the compatibility of lenses with different camera systems makes these assets more valuable than ever. In addition, users of Sony E-mount camera bodies will enjoy an immediate increase in the number of lenses available to them. It selects which system to use automatically (like with E-mount lenses) and can slow down the speed in Single AF where the camera seems to prefer contrast detection. Physically, I would say it's quite good. Well built, anti-reflective inside, solid, and with excellent tolerances (infinity is exactly infinity on lenses that have an infinity stop). That is, until recently Sigma's aim was to get Sigma EF lenses working with Canon EF bodies, and while I'm sure it investigated some Canon EF lenses on the way, that wasn't the goal. I strongly suspect that the other adapter vendors have much more experience in Canon EF lens protocols. I'm not sure I understand the premise of this thread. MC-11 was designed to work with sigma lenses built for canon EF mount. I assume sigma using a lot of the same technology and software in every lens, with maybe some exceptions for niche lenses. This makes adapting them that much easier. That the MC-11 works with any canon lenses is a bonus, not a promise. Since i believe the canon lenses are going to be using different technology and software than the sigma lenses. Their communication ports (lens mounts) are the same, but its kind of like a CD, DVD, and Bluray. They all look the same but arent necessarily compatible.
