About this deal

Over the following days, while Maxine was chastely dating more suitable boys and Frank was pursuing a curvy brunette, two freshly fertilized eggs were busily bumping their way along Maxine's fallopian tubes toward the haven of her horrified young uterus.

I will admit that Truly Madly Guilty did test my patience a bit, because the structure builds up to a dramatic incident at a barbecue, and it takes us half the book to learn what happened that day. But I am so glad I stayed with this book, because there were themes that really resonated with me, and I learned to love these characters, flaws and all. Clementine, by contrast, had a happy childhood.....aside from being irritated by Erika's constant presence. Clementine had loving parents, a nice home, and musical talent that was nurtured by her family. This tale didn't quite have the same intense drive as some of her later novels, but the hallmarks of why she has become so popular is still evident here. After collecting my thoughts, I realized the usual laugh out loud humor is not prominent in this one, and other than one or two titillating scenes, the dialogue was a little flat, and the characters did not evoke any kind of emotional response from me, until later, once I fully understood the situation. Then I was able to muster up a little sympathy, or at least understanding, for a few of the characters, while others still left me feeling cold, all of which made the book feel overlong, causing me to experience impatience, and frustration, on more than one occasion, which is something you never want a reader to feel.

No one warned you that having children reduced you right down to some smaller, rudimentary, primitive version of yourself, where your talents and your education and your achievements meant nothing." The three Kettle sisters may share the same birthday, but that's about all they have in common. Which sister did you identify with the most, and why?

Three Wishes - Penguin Books UK

The story follows three triplet sisters, in their thirties, who all have very different personalities and outlooks on life and explores how their complex relationships with each other withstand all the dramas that life throws at them. Spoiler alert: a lot.Princess Petronella finds herself in charge after the King and Queen of the planet Globagaskar go for a vacation. Bored stiff, Petronella decides to turn Earth—the preferred holiday destination of the Globagaskarian—into a rubbish dump. Thomas Gordon seemed to be the perfect boyfriend for Sophie Honeywell, until she broke his heart on the day he was going to propose. I loved 'The Husband Secret' and 'What Alice Forgot', this is one of her earlier books, I think maybe her second one? Anyway, the writing style is more or less the same as her more recent books, she does seem to write about women who have quite busy lives and lots going on.

Three Wishes: From the bestselling author of Big Little Lies

Liane’s books have been translated into thirty-nine languages, selling over 14 million copies of her books worldwide. The writing was okay but like I said, I didn't like two MCs so I just couldn't enjoy the story. I really pushed myself to finish reading this and I don't know why I bothered because it was the worst ending a book could have. I will still give other books of this writer a go. This is Moriarty’s debut novel, written in 2003 with plenty of insight and humour and empathy for both the parents (now separated and sparring) and their 30-something daughters who have the same problems their mother had and many young women have. It’s just that things seem magnified when everything is tripled. When one hurts, they all hurt, at least after two of them have finished scolding and carrying on about how the third (injured) one shouldn’t have been doing whatever she was doing at the time.

I really enjoy Liane Moriarty’s novels. “Big Little Lies” is one of my favorite books. I’ve had this audiobook for quite a while. I’m surprised it took me so long to get to it. The story is told from multiple perspectives. I found it relatively easy to follow along with the point of view at each point in the story. I found the interaction between the three girls and the other characters in the story very entertaining. The characters are well developed and very believable. I loved each of the sisters and their individual personalities. They have a very lovable and dysfunctional family dynamic that really did have me laughing out loud quite a few times. Send a motley crew of hurting but comfortably heeled Aussies to a secluded resort for a pricey 10-day “Mind and Body Total Transformation Retreat” and what happens? In this cannily plotted, Continue reading » Hmm. I was originally going to give this 3.5 stars, but thinking about it, I can’t find enough positives to warrant the extra half star.

Everything I love about Moriarty is evident in this novel, the almost whimsical quality of the story, the dark undertones, and loads of emotions and family drama, but alas, this one fell a little flat for me. Now, wrapping a towel around her, her mouth minty with Listerine (tonight was most definitely first kiss time), she went dripping down the hallway into her bedroom to choose her most unsexy, unmatching underwear so she wouldn’t be tempted to sleep with him too soon.”They are each other’s keepers, as it were, and they have no secrets from each other. They know what their husbands and boyfriends are like in bed and they swap all kinds of personal details. At least that’s what each thinks about the other two. We learn differently, gradually. And social worker Pam (Clementine's mom) is overly self-righteous in her do-gooding, interfering zeal. At one point Pam gives a dinner party speech that made me (and the book's characters) quite uncomfortable. Liane Moriarty is the number-one New York Timesbestselling author of Big Little Lies, The Husband's Secret ,and What Alice Forgot, as well as The Hypnotist's Love Story, Three Wishes, The Last Anniversary, and the Nicola Berry series for children.
