The strong bassline driving the funky beat in The Cat Empire’s Fishies sounds playful through the Sennheisers – it bounces and twangs and is full of life. Technically we could just rehash the equivalent section of the E10S review here, but the E10Cs inspire us to say some more about how good they are. Machined in one piece, the metal earphone body makes the E10 robust and ready for the rigours of everyday life, whatever you throw at them. These earphones are built to last. On the Xiaomi Max 2, the E11C delivers a clear vocal presence without muchin the way of treble harshness. Instrumental separation and resolution are good for the price. However, the lower spectrum is a bit overwhelming for some music.

I can recall the cables on the E10 feeling a bit fragile as well as having a very light build. The E11C has improved prominently on these two areas. It also has a nice color scheme and a sturdy build on the cable making the E11C look way more premium than the E10. Both the cable and molding feel strong and it doesn’t get tangled easily. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 1st November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) The SoundMagic E11C have a less relaxed character than the E10C, but every characteristic that marks out sound quality in a speaker or headphone has been improved. Sound stage, separation, clarity, control and dynamics: all are great in this earphone, considering the price.

SoundMagic claims it is the only company to do it (and no, we can’t think of another) – which isn’t a bad thing to shout about. A tech addict from about the age of three (seriously, he's got the VHS tapes to prove it), Tom's been writing about gadgets, games and everything in between for the past decade, with a slight diversion into the world of automotive in between. The SoundMagic E50 shed most of the low frequency emphasis, giving them a more balanced, grown-up sound that I find more satisfying. However, if bonus bass is what you’re after then the SoundMagic E10C pull off this sound signature better than the rival Sennheiser CX3.00. Should you buy the SoundMagic E10C? The SoundMagic E11C’s outer design is structurally similar to the old E10’s. These are aluminium earpieces with large apertures and a little piece of silicone rubber where metal and cable meet.

On iPhone 6+ the presentation is more balanced and detailed with less grain in the vocal timbre as well. Overall, the performance is full-bodied, dynamic and spacious> Using audiophile masterings it is an enjoyable pairing. With streaming services such as Spotify, the pairing is a bit bassier. I would recommend the pairing with Tidal, where western songs and older Asian pops work better than modern J/Kpop mixes that deliver muddier bass and a sharper treble. These earphones are one of the best available at the price if you like powerful and dominant bass. Fortunately, the rest of the sound doesn’t suffer too much as a result. SoundMagic’s E10 are easy-going earphones with solid bass and treble, but no particular lean on either side that could put off some ears. They are earphones for everyone, and so are the E11C. These earphones will either mean nothing to you or seem as important as the return of the Star Wars films. On a first sight, E11C looks similar to E10C; for my taste, E11C is a bit “classier”, although this is personal. Nonetheless, the quality of E11C is at least as good as, and to my opinion a little higher, than that of E10C. It is a robust construction that is made to last, which goes along with the philosophy of SoundMAGIC products. The aluminium housing, the microphone and the cable are all of top quality and seem very solid, something you don’t expect from earphones at this price range. My sample was in what SoundMAGIC calls “gunmetal”, which is of a very nice color. One thing that deserves a special mention is the cable of E11C, which is new and of better quality than that of E10C. Initially, it might give you the impression that it is also anti-tangling, but it is not; however, it looks, feels and it actually is better.Machined in one piece, the metal earphone body makes the E10C robust and ready for the rigours of everyday life, whatever you throw at them. Inside the sheath of the cord a twisted cable ensures strength and a tangle-free listening experience. For five years, Soundmagic’s E10s in some form or another have been our go-to budget headphones, and although sound quality hasn’t taken a leap forward this time, it’s still remarkable that Soundmagic finds ways to implement improvements without bumping up the price. Regardless, the SoundMagic E10C continue in this vein. However, I do quite like the use of metal earpieces. While they won’t stop the cable connection from deteriorating if not looked after, they’re far more likely to survive being trodden on than a cheap plastic earpiece.

However, if you’re looking for a “serious” earphone with a tone closer to that of a true high-end set, you should also consider the SoundMagic E50. The Fidue A65 are another great budget choice if you want something that sits in the middle ground, with slightly tamer bass. The drivers haven’t really changed from the previous generation E10S, which means you can expect bass that’s bold, without being distracting or overpowering. There’s plenty of clarity for such a full-bodied sound. The E11Cs have a familiar sound – SoundMagic's sonic signature remains firmly intact on this cheaper pair of headphones. The sound is well-balanced, entertaining and energetic, with a decent level of depth and warmth. Bass has greater impact, and there’s less mid-bass, which softens the sound in a pleasant but indiscriminate way. Just as SoundMagic promises, the E11C are a much more grown-up sounding pair than the E10.
